Thanksgiving Apple Pie

Thanksgiving Apple Pie

thanksgiving time is such a great time to reflect and spend time with family. And baking festive treats is something I look forward to doing every year. This apple pie recipe is based off of the Better Home and Gardens recipe and I have been making it yearly for a while now. it is simple, delicious. and everyone loves it. It does take a while to make, but if you do it with friends or family it cane made into such a fun time.

What you need:

  • 4-5 green apples
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 and 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • pie crust
  • tin foil

What to do:

  1. preheat the oven to 375 and take pic crusts out of the fridge to soften
  2. skin your apples and sun them into thin slices (this step takes a little while)
  3. place apple slices into a bowl and add 3/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  4. mix until the sugar mixture is evenly spread
  5. place one pie crust into the pie pan and pinch around the edge as desired
  6. pour sugar coated apples into pie pan
  7. mix butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup sugar in a small bowl until it forms a crumb texture
  8. sprinkle crumb mixture on top of the apples
  9. cut out any cute leaf shapes to place on top for decoration
  10. wrap the edges of the pie pan with tin foil o keep crust from burning and place in the oven for 40 min
  11. then take tin foil off and bake for another 20 min
  12. take out of the oven and cool for about an hour to let the apples set and then enjoy!
