Thanksgiving Apple Pie
thanksgiving time is such a great time to reflect and spend time with family. And baking festive treats is something I look forward to doing every year. This apple pie recipe is based off of the Better Home and Gardens recipe and I have been making it yearly for a while now. it is simple, delicious. and everyone loves it. It does take a while to make, but if you do it with friends or family it cane made into such a fun time.
What you need:
- 4-5 green apples
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 3/4 and 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoon butter
- pie crust
- tin foil
What to do:
- preheat the oven to 375 and take pic crusts out of the fridge to soften
- skin your apples and sun them into thin slices (this step takes a little while)
- place apple slices into a bowl and add 3/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg
- mix until the sugar mixture is evenly spread
- place one pie crust into the pie pan and pinch around the edge as desired
- pour sugar coated apples into pie pan
- mix butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup sugar in a small bowl until it forms a crumb texture
- sprinkle crumb mixture on top of the apples
- cut out any cute leaf shapes to place on top for decoration
- wrap the edges of the pie pan with tin foil o keep crust from burning and place in the oven for 40 min
- then take tin foil off and bake for another 20 min
- take out of the oven and cool for about an hour to let the apples set and then enjoy!
