Tips on Finding "The Dress"
Hi everyone! On today’s wedding Wednesday I am going to talk about my wedding dress shopping experience! For those of you just beginning you search, don’t be overwhelmed (cause I know I was). You will eventually find your dress no matter how many shops you go to I promise. I thought I would share some t=of the things I learned about wedding dress shopping and share some of my experiences to give you some insight on what to expect.
First off, what to bring to your dress appointments. For me personally, the less people there the better. I get overwhelmed easily and especially with more eyes on me when I am unsure of how I look in a dress. So depending on how overwhelmed you get, just bring the people who’s opinion you really care about. Also, I brought undergarments that made me feel comfortable. The ladies at the shop will be helping you get dressed and undressed so make sure you are comfortable with whatever you are wearing underneath. I wore simple black booty shorts and a plain bra for example.
The next piece of advice I would give is to research beforehand. Look at the dresses and clothes you have now and thing about what you love about them. Are they all tight at the waist? Do they all show your arms? Make sure you know what style you love to wear and research some dress options you think will fit that style. This helped me a lot in knowing what to try on and what to not even bother trying on.
Thirdly, I would say to go to various shops and boutiques even if you think you found the one. I thought I had found my dress and we were on the way to buy it, when we stopped at another store on the way and found one that was even more like what I had pictured. This goes along with another tip which is to not settle. This is your wedding day so make sure it is a dress you really like! I was going to go with that first dress and settle with something close-enough to what I wanted, and then I found my perfect dress and was so happy I didn’t settle! Even if you need to walk away and think about it for a bit, just make sure it is really what you feel the most beautiful in!
