Wedding Wednesday: Choosing A Venue
As most of you may know, I got engaged over the summer to my high school sweetheart Jacob! We knew going into engagement we did not want it to be long and we wanted to start planning right away. So we went right into the swing of things to start planning our wedding day! So I thought I would start a series on this blog on Wednesdays talking about all things wedding! From planning to rentals to invites, the to do list never ends and I thought I would share the things I have learned along the way! So if any of you have certain topics you want me to talk about you can comment them below this post, DM me on Instagram, or even email me! I would love to talk about the things you all are curious about!
So, for this first week of the series I thought I would talk about choosing a venue. Choosing a venue is pretty much the first step to planning your day. You can’t choose a date, rentals, or basically anything without a venue so choosing one is definitely the best place to start, especially since you have to book venue pretty far out if you have a specific date in mind.
Before you even start going to tour venues, you should browse Pinterest and Instagram to have a general idea of the type of feel you want. Do want your wedding outside, in a church, or at a remote location? Deciding how you picture your wedding will help narrow down the venues before you even begin to look. Once you have decided the type of theme you want (I wanted rustic barn/outdoors), you can then schedule some tours to go view them!
Once you begin touring venues, have a few dates in mind so you can be prepared to see if they are available. Make sure to ask yourself how each venue makes you feel. Do you feel comfortable at the venue or does it make you feel out of place? Can you picture yourself getting married there? These questions will help you make the right choice no matter the price or distance. Take notes during the tours on price, if the venue offers catering, and all the little details so you can remember the specifics, as it can be hard to keep venues straight after seeing a few.
Lastly, make sure you and your fiancee both love the place and it fits your personalities together. Don’t settle for anything you both don’t love, keep looking and I guarantee you will eventually fin something perfect for your wedding day.
