Summer Makeup Routine
Along with fashion changing in the summer seasons, skincare also changes as the weather warms up. Less coverage and more SPF come into play to keep your skin protected from the sun. My personal makeup routine does change a lot as the weather gets hotter and more dry, as does my skincare routine. So for todays post I am going to be sharing some things that I have really loved during the summer months to keep my makeup looking nice and keeping my skin protected at the same time.
Firstly, I use the Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial spray. This step doesn't change from the other time of the year, but I also use it after I put on all of makeup which is different than usual. If you have followed my blog for a while, or follow me on other social media, you will know I absolutely love this product. It is one of those products I don't think I will ever stop using and is worth every penny. My skin feel so much more refreshed and clear when I use this, and as some of you may know, I love anything with rosewater.
Something I do differently in the summer is that I don't use a separate moisturizer and foundation. Instead, I use a tinted moisturizer with SPF and it is a PERFECT three-in-one step. I feel that when I use both a moisturizer and foundation during the summer months, my skin becomes way more oily and almost wet feeling all day. So I have been using the First-Aid Beauty tinted moisturizer with SPF 30. I personally like how it isn't super covering like a full foundation. It makes my skin feel like it is able to breath and still soak in the sun without being damaged.
On days that I don't want to wear makeup, I use the Glossier Riche Moisturizer on its own. It soaks into the skin super fast and doesn't leave my skin wet or oily at all. And as a plus, the smell is super summery and fresh!
For concealer, I try not to use a ton during the summer because I don't try to layer my makeup a ton. But if I absolutely have to to cover up something, I have been using the Naked Skin Urban Decay concealer. It is super covering and is pretty light on the skin.
For powder, I just recently purchased the Laura Mercier translucent powder and I have been LOVING it! Again, it is super light weight and doesn't give your face that cake-y feeling. It pairs really well with the tinted moisturizer and I only use a tiny amount all over my face to set it and keep my face from being to oily.
For Bronzer, I still use the Hula Bronzer by Benefit. Obviously during the summer I use it much less as I begin to get more tan, but I still use it for contouring in certain places and really love its natural look.
Next for eyebrows I have been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder. This step doesn't change at all for the summer months, but I have been loving the product a lot.
For mascara and eyeliner I use my trusty Benefit Roller Lash and Covergirl Perfect Point Plus pen. Again I use these products year round and you can see more in depth reviews of them in other posts!
Lastly, I don't go super crazy for lips, usually just a Burtz Bees chapstick to keep my lips from getting dry. But on a fancy day out I typically use the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Range.
Overall, I have really been loving these products and how they feel and look for the hot summer months. Hopefully this gave you some inspiration to change up your makeup routine and gave you some insight on what I have been loving!
