Sweet Spring Macaroons

Sweet Spring Macaroons

So, macaroons are something I have wanted to try to bake for a while now! I have had them at farmers markets before and they are just cute cute and yummy! I looked up some recipes on Pinterest and quickly learned that these cute little treats are not as simple as they look! The amount of Pinterest fails that were posted did scare me a bit, but I was confident enough in my baking skills to at least make them somewhat decent. So with that said, I would not attempt these without realizing they are on the more difficult side of things and might take a few practices. But if you are confident in your baking skills and you have done a lot of baking before, then you should definitely give them a try!

Supply List:

1 cup almond flour

2 cups powder sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 egg whites (room temperature)

1/4 teaspoon cream of tarter

pinch of salt

food dye (optional)

parchment paper

disposable piping bags

round decorating tip

Instructions:

1. Sift almond flour and powdered sugar into a large bowl and set aside

2. Beat egg whites, cream of tarter, and salt in a large bowl, slowly adding the sugar as it is mixing. Keep beating until the egg whites are form soft peaks, then add vanilla.

3. Slowly add a little of the flour mixture and fold it into the egg white mixture so they don't deflate. When all the flour is mixed, the consistency should be able to slowly drop from the spatula, but not super runny.

4. Color the batter with however many colors desired by separating into different bowls.

5. Spoon the batter into a piping bag.

6. Pipe the batter onto the parchment paper placed on your cookie sheets. I used a template from online to make them more even, but make sure you take out the templates before putting in the oven!

7.  Hit the cookie sheets down so the air is released from the cookies, and let them sit for 30 minutes. Set the oven to 275 degrees.

8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, be careful not to overcook them.

9. Let them cool, and fill with a filling of your choice! I used the Betty Crocker vanilla frosting! Then enjoy!
