I have always had a love-hate relationship with field trips. when you're younger they are so exciting and thrilling. you get to skip class and be with your friends and maybe even pet a weird animal. but, as I've gotten older they got increasingly less exciting and I guess thats just part of life. I was happy to spend time with people I enjoy but less excited to get out of my normal routine and go on longer bus rides (7 hours to be exact... thanks LA traffic). but, in the back of my head I tried to enjoy it because I know I will look back and miss the long bus rides, the crazy conversations on the bus, and the one person who always has to go to the bathroom. on my last field trip of high school we piled the whole senior class on a yellow bus and drove up to the getty art museum. I enjoyed the sort of sophistication and peacefulness that went along with the place. it was fun to walk around and admire the artwork that was made centuries ago by these talented people. I liked imagining where the artists were when they painted them and the kind of people they most likely were. I like to think that I would've gotten along with the amazing painters who created my favorite pieces... but who knows.
