senior prom

when I went to my first homecoming 4 years ago, I don’t think I had any idea how fast time would go by and I would be 18 and going to my last high school dance… literally I think I blinked and I was already finishing senior projects and thinking about college. Senior Prom really did come quickly, and I was so excited (having the best date EVER!) to get and create these last memories.

we went and got our boutonnière and corsage picked out (bringing in a Pinterest picture for reference of course) and I had to take in every moment knowing it would be my last time. my last time picking out a fancy dress, finding heels that match, deciding how to do my hair, and where to take pictures beforehand. it was all so sentimental but relieving.

personally I do love getting dressed up and going to a fancy event every once and a while, but it can also be a stressful and almost anxious experience for me as well. I get caught up in trying to make every decision perfect and make everything fit together perfectly. but this time I told myself I wouldn’t let that happen and I would go with the flow. and amazingly everything came together so amazing! I found my dress months early in the right size on just a regular shopping day, had some amazing people offer for us to take pictures with them at the Carlsbad Flower Fields, found shoes that were titled with my name and in my size, and had another friend willingly offer to do my makeup! things literally could not have happened more spontaneously, and although it didn’t take away from the busy time of it all, I still remained calm and took in every possible moment to store away in my memory.

the night was full of amazing memories with some of my closest friends. we danced the night away, ate until we felt like exploding and had the best time. the night was unforgettable and I’m so excited for what is coming in the future.

easter treats

decorating and getting ready for easter is so exciting. bright colors, blooming flowers, and the slightest hint of summer in the air bring happiness and joy to me. this year I got the task of decorating the table for my family’s easter get-together this year, so I searched Pinterest and honestly didn’t find to many cute ideas. but, I just started pulling out some old holiday ideas and remember my halloween gummy skewers that everyone loved and decided to put a twist on them for easter. I got as many different peeps as I could from Target and got started.

they were seriously so easy and fast to make. and even if you’re not a huge peep eater, let  them harden and use them as center pieces! hope you guys like this little easter treat diy, and tag me on Instagram if you try them out!

WHAT YOU NEED:

-peeps

-skewers

-excelsior

-Reese’s peanut butter eggs (for decoration)

-a cute pot/vase of your choice

-floral foam

-plastic treat bags (optional)

first, take out the peeps you wish to use. I made five so I only needed four of each color.

pull your first peep through the skewer about a little more than half way

next, pull your second color peep through so it touches the other peep.

then pull the third peep through so it pops out the top and you don’t see the skewer.

repeat the last steps to make as many skewers as needed.

next put your floral foam in your pot/vase and place the excelsior on top to hide it.  then put the skewers with the peeps in the floral foam to make them stand up. I made my excelsior into a little nest by putting the Reese’s peanut butter eggs in between the skewers

again, theses peep skewers make perfect treats at the dinner table on Easter, or perfect center pieces/decorations. I love the bright colors they add to any table.

they can also make the perfect gift-bags or give-aways for baby showers, easter parties, or spring birthdays! just add some plastic bags and twine and you’ve got the perfect gift!

a berry good day

strawberry picking is one of my favorite things to do in the spring. its so exciting to finally see things blooming and growing after all the rain and cold. I love searching for the reddest and biggest berries, plucking them off the bush, and putting them in the big white bucket.

jacob and I jumped in his truck on an overcast Saturday morning and drive to the fields. we experimented with some vlogging so be looking for that soon… and we also took some video to make a little short video so subscribe to our youtube here to be notified.

now were back at the house stuffing our face with strawberries and mindlessly watching Lemonademouth… a perfect, chill Saturday .

santa monica

seeing new places has always been intriguing to me. new people, new way of life, new normals, and (my favorite) new foods. this all plays a big part in my thrill to travel even if its only a few hours drive. so my boyfriend Jacob and I packed up the truck and went to LA for the day.

at my high school our winter formal is called “Skaties” and it is a girls ask guys event. we all go out to dinner and then go ice skating. its actually not much of an actual formal but it’s still fun.. so I had to come up with something creative to ask jacob right? so I pulled a few strings and ordered custom donuts spelling out “SKATIES?” at a little shop called California Donuts in LA and convinced him that a trip to LA would be fun. and it actually worked! he had no idea and we got such a fun trip out of it.

we went to Alfred Tea Room, DASH, Urth, Free People, and the Santa Monica Pier! Honestly one of my favorite parts had to have been eating at Urth. maybe I was just super hungry, but it was some the best food I had ever had. definitely wishing there was one closer to my house and already planning a trip to go back very soon!

disneyland

as you may know, one of my favorite childhood memories was going to Disneyland. pair that with Christmas and you have me hooked for life. so my boyfriend and I bought tickets for each other since our birthdays are conveniently both in December and we headed off the happiest place on earth.

we rode the tea-cups, pirates of the Caribbean, and about every single ride in the park. one of my absolute favorite things at Disney is the dole whip soft serve so of course I got one of those and a churro throughout the day for snacks. for dinner we ate at the galactic grill and it was so so good and such a throwback to being little and watching the Jedi-training show.

Salton Sea // Salvation Mountain

On the last few days of break, my boyfriend Jacob, two sisters, and I took off on a last minute road-trip to Palm Springs. It’s been on my bucket list for a while to see the clay art piece called Salvation Mountain, and I finally made it happen to finish off 2016. We hit the road with candy, snacks, Hannah Montana on high volume, and a full tank off gas.

Our first impromptu stop was the Salton Sea. We pulled off the road and walked onto the fishbone sand (and when I say fishbone sand I mean literally walking on dead, crunchy, fishbones) to see the amazing view of the mountains above the water. There was a small fog on the salty water that made it so gorgeous but the bones were just plain gross. I made the mistake of wearing sandals, and I eventually made Jacob carry me back to shore due to the gag reflex happening… but the view was so pretty and I can’t smell the dead fish looking at the pictures, so it was worth it.Processed with VSCO with j2 presetProcessed with VSCO with j2 presetProcessed with VSCO with j2 presetProcessed with VSCO with j2 presetProcessed with VSCO with j2 preset

Then we finally made it to the mountain, and I was very glad that I brought Jacob because lets just say the town around the mountain was not the nicest place in the world. But, still the mountain was so amazing to see and take some time to look at. It was completely sculpted and painted by one artist and it was amazing looking at the details and beauty of it.

October is Here!!

So, it is finally the first official week of October…YAY!!! And although here in San Diego it is still high 80s, hot, and won’t feel cold until December, I have been trying to embrace the fall season anyway. I have definitely broken into my secret stash of fall candles and absolutely love coming home to light one and just Pinterest or lay in bed. Also to get in the fall spirit I went with my mom, cousins, and aunt to Bates Nut Farm to find the perfect pumpkins, ride on a hay-ride, and do some decor shopping. It is one of our traditions every year to go to this pumpkin patch and I enjoy every minute of it… even though I am sweating like crazy and have to wear sunscreen. Despite the heat, it was such a fun trip and it is definitely something my whole family looks forward to each year. So get out your scarecrows and pumpkin decor cause FALL IS HERE!!
